About

Roger Howley

I am an architect and energy auditor, with 20 years of experience in residential design, sustainable community design, and energy consulting.  I am uniquely licensed as an architect and qualified as a Minnesota Residential Energy Auditor.

I established House Green in 2008 to use my construction, energy and design knowledge to create healthy, energy efficient homes and work spaces.  I am an active member of the Minnesota Building Performance Association (www.mbpa.us), HIRE Minnesota (a grass-roots organizer for green jobs and hiring equity- www.hiremn.org) and of the Seward Neighborhood Group's Environment Committee.

I began my career as a carpenter fixing and remodeling old homes, and developing my design skills.  Through carpentry, I had the good fortune of being involved in unique building projects including timberframe buildings, wooden boats, and a Buddhist temple, all using locally sourced lumber.

I worked as a renovation contractor while studying architecture at the University of Minnesota, achieving Bachelors of Environmental Design and Masters of Architecture degrees.

Home Performance work includes energy audits for homeowners, public service groups such as Community Action of Minneapolis, and contractors.  I have completed over 500 audits, providing a diverse and deep understaning of how homes work and how to fix them.
